Here in Los Angeles, the industry has changed. Hollywood's commercial casting is almost exclusively done digitally with television and feature catching up quick. How does that effect what you need in a headshot? Casting directors browse through much smaller thumbnail images on their computers rather than paging through large 8x10 prints. They only click on the images that catch their eyes. You need a headshot that makes a highly clickable thumbnail. Think about this for a second... You need an image that stands out. The best way to do that is to let the real you show. You need a photographer who knows how to bring it out of you. That's 75% of the battle. But there are technical ways to get the perfect headshot, too:

I only shoot digital RAW files. Why should you care? RAW image files are like digital negatives. This is far superior to the standard jpeg images most headshot photographers shoot. While you get access to all the images captured during your shoot, you only want to send out images that have been optimized for color, contrast, sharpness, and impact.

For natural light headshots we have many interesting locations just minutes away as well as a relaxed home studio shooting environment. I use a calm, natural directing style that helps capture the real you in your headshot. Let the real you show in your headshot and you are likely to get called in on more auditions. Let the real you show at the audition and you'll find yourself booking a significantly higher percentage of jobs.
